Radical Prostatectomy Adenocarcinoma of the prostate is the most frequent tumor after the age of 50. Prostatic Specific Antigen (PSA) is a glycoprotein that is secreted by the prostate glands, and permits early diagnosis even in asymptomatic patients.
With laparoscopic surgery it is possible to remove the
prostate and surrounding lymph nodes with minimal
trauma, in an almost bloodless operative field, with a very short hospitalization time (approximately 3-4 days).
After Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy, urinary continence is resumed very early when compared to open surgery. Optimal nerve sparing surgery is possible due to the visual degree of magnification of the operative field. This is accomplished without compromising upon the surgery from the oncology viewpoint (adequate surgical margins).
Average surgical time 210’.
