Pyeloplasty The urinary tract can present with congenital strictures usually located at the ureteric pelvic junction. The best results in the past were obtained with an open pyeloplasty through a lombotomy incision.
Today, it is possible to do exactly the same procedure with laparoscopic surgery performed through the retroperitoneum. The renal pelvis is resected and the stricture is easily removed.
Reconstruction of the renal pelvis and of the ureter is then performed. Disappearance of pain and of dilatation is obtained in 98% of patients.
Average surgical time 120’.
